The indecision also led to this shot,  which was taken near the parking lot.  In fact it was this scene that made me think that staying up near the parking lot was a good idea while the sun set.

After I left the Hoh Rain Forest,  I traveled back to the coast,  but started to make my way south.  I had a map of the Olympic National Park by this point,  and it showed a group of sea stacks just off the coast at Ruby Beach.  I headed there,  took in the fine display of geology,  and and then headed down to Kalaloch,  where I had intended on ( Read more... )

The next morning I woke up and wandered down to the beach,  not more than 100 feet from my hotel.  The sun was still low on the horizon,  casting a nice warm glow across the landscape.

At the end of the first day of the trip I found a hotel in La Push.  I checked in,  grabbed my camera and lens that I had rented for the trip,  a little bit of food from a local convenience store, and a flashlight.  The sun was setting quickly,  so I headed over to second beach (not to be confused with beach 2,  which is much further south)  ( Read more... )
